Deep Fire — Heavy Sumi Hi Showa

This 10"–12" Select Hi Showa is a fish that commands attention. A rich, deep orange-red (hi) base is overlaid with heavy, sweeping black sumi that spreads across the body in bold, dramatic strokes — more sumi coverage than a typical Hi Showa, giving this fish a darker, more intense character that sets it apart. The interplay between the deep orange and the inky black creates a pattern that feels almost volcanic, like fire breaking through dark rock.

What makes this fish especially compelling is that the sumi is still developing — Showa sumi is known to shift, deepen, and reorganize with age and season, meaning this fish's pattern will continue to evolve into something even more dramatic over time.

Hi Showa are hardy, adaptable koi that thrive in well-maintained ponds with good filtration and water quality. Feed a color-enhancing diet like Blackwater Color Enhancing to deepen and maintain the orange-red hi. Sumi pattern changes are completely normal and expected on Showa — embrace the transformation! Minimum pond size of 1,000 gallons recommended.
