The Hi Showa is one of the most visually commanding koi varieties in the hobby — a Showa Sanshoku where red utterly dominates, reducing the black sumi and white to dramatic accents that make the fire-red body burn even brighter. This 10"–12" Premium specimen takes it further with long, flowing butterfly fins that trail through the water like flames caught in a current.

Up close, the detail is breathtaking: bold black sumi tracing down the dorsal line, scattered white patches that create contrast against the deep red-orange body, and fins that move with a slow, hypnotic grace. This is a fish that doesn't just inhabit a pond — it commands it.

Care Notes

Hi Showa are hardy, adaptable koi that thrive in well-maintained ponds with good filtration. Feed a color-enhancing diet like Blackwater Color Enhancing to deepen and maintain the red hi pattern. Their long butterfly fins thrive in well-oxygenated water with good flow. Minimum pond size of 1,000 gallons recommended.
